This is a fan letter form a former Western Springs precinct captain in ROLT who now lives and works in Virginia. I represented Lyons Township for
six years in the Illinois State Senate from 1977 to 1983 when I lived in Western Springs. I have never had the honor of meeting Committeeman and
Commissioner Tony Peraica but I admire him for his record of reform and I am very proud of him for the wonderful work he has done as both as Cook
County Commissioner and as the Lyons Township Republican Committeeman. I knew every Lyons Township GOP committeeman from Frank Kriz in 1954 to Tec
Clarke to George Burditt to Dave Tomei, to Ann Painter. In my opinion without disrespecting his predecessors, I think Tony is absolutely the best
local Republican party leader that Lyons Township has had since World War II. The ROLT web site and newsletter are just terrific. I admire Tony
for standing up for an elected state central committee which is the way we had it from 1918 to 1988 before GOP Primary voter rights were stolen in
a midnight deal 20 years ago.
I see that Tony's web site links to Illinois Review.com where I am a regular contributor. I wish I had a donation to send to you this month but
maybe I can in the summer if some more commissions come in from my new company in Dallas. All I can offer this Lincoln Day is words of encouragement
and sincere prayers for your success since I think you are all doing a really great job. Is Tim Sprague the son of Tom Sprague or grandson of former
Sen. Arthur Sprague? I am glad to see his familiar name on your list of officers.
God bless you all for standing up for the historic principles of freedom that President Lincoln’s party was founded to protect.
